An interesting and
well maintained course built on mature rolling farmland. |
|
The first four holes have OB left but there is plenty of room and
you'll be hard-put to get out there.
You start with a 404 yard par 4, a dog leg right with a slight downhill
approach. There is one bunker left of the driving area, and one
either side of the green, which falls away sharply behind.
Hole two is a straight forward par 3, 200 yards slightly uphill.
There is one bunker front right and one to the left of the green.
The ground falls away right of the green, and behind is rough ground.
The 503 yard par 5 third is a another right dogleg. There are three
fairway bunkers just after the dogleg, not reachable from the tee.
The small green is a little below you, and surrounded by three bunkers
and a mound to the right.
The fourth is a little left to right but the fairway falls right
to left so you need to keep right off the tee. The approach is quite
downhill to a two tier green with the lower tier to the back, the
ground falls away sharply behind so a well placed shot is needed.
Hole 5 is one of the shorter par 4's at 373 yards, but the tee shot
is steeply uphill. The fairway turns sharply left 200 yards out,
and there is a huge mound left of the corner, so you are best to
play into the corner rather than cutting across. The green is protected
front and right by three bunkers and falling ground left and back.
Six is a straight, slightly downhill, 400 yard par 4, to a large
two tier green, with a bunker front right, a mound front left, a
large bunker back left and falling ground to the rear.
The seventh is an uphill right dogleg, 436 yard par 4. There are
two small bunkers to the front of the small two tier green and a
large mound back left.
On the 166 yard par 3 eighth, you are teeing over a line of trees
and two water ditches, to a green with a large bunker left and a
pond far right.
The par 5 ninth is a 523 yard, flat left dogleg, with a large mound
at the corner and OB along the right. It's best to play into the
corner leaving a straight second and an easy wedge to a deep two
tier green with bunkers either side.
Ten is a 435 yard par 4, slightly downhill right to left, there
is a bunker and a long mound on the left corner of the fairway at
driving distance making you play around the corner and OB along
the right. The green is narrow and deep with a bunker front left
and a few small mounds left and behind.
Hole eleven is an interesting par 5, 545 yards, the fairway slopes
a little right to left and there is a water ditch along the left
side. The tiny green is well below you and there are two ways to
approach it. Follow the fairway down and left where it narrows about
100 yards from the green, or stay up high to the right and come
in over the trees and a large area of rough ground.
Twelve is the shortest par 4 at 364 yards. Steeply uphill to a fairway
that falls sharply left to OB. Miss the fairway on the right and
there is huge grassy ditch, leaving no site of the green. The green
is two tier right to left with a big drop and two small bunkers
left and high ground on the right.
Hole thirteen is a welcome short par 3, 156 yards downhill to a
green with a bunker front left and steep slopes on all sides.
The fourteenth is a straight 522 yard par 5 with OB on the right
and four well placed fairway bunkers. The small green has a large
bunker either side and mounds to the rear.
Fifteen is a flat slight dogleg right to left, 419 yard par 4.
There is a bunker either side of the fairway at driving distance,
and large bunkers left and right of the green.
Hole sixteen is a 191 yard par 3, uphill and sloping heavily right
to left with OB along the left. Only one small bunker to the right
and back of the green.
The seventeenth is a straight 422 yard par 4, sloping a little
right to left with OB left. A generous flat green with two small
bunkers left and one large bunker and a few mounds on the right.
The eighteenth is a good finish, 376 yard par 4, it doglegs left
170 yards out, and there is a large pond surrounded by trees on
the left corner. The pond and trees are OB but are close enough
to carry, so you have a choice on the tee, cut the corner and carry
the pond or draw it around. There is a fairway bunker either side
if you hit a long one and three more around the green.
A well laid-out course with excellent greens, a good driving range
and good practice facilities, friendly staff and a nice club house. |
