| A shapely, well cared
for parkland course. |
|
The first hole is a 400 yard par 4, straight and flat with a wide
fairway. Keep right off the tee as the green is tucked left with
a bunker right.
Next is a fairly short par 4 at 314 yards. A large fairway bunker
left centre guards the entrance to the green. Lay up from the tee
or come in from the right.
The 4th is a 180 yard par 3, uphill to a well contoured green sloping
back to front. The ground falls away to the right of the green.
Hole 5 is a good challenge, 387 yard par 4, the fairway runs downhill
and slopes right to left. There are large conifers on the high ground
to the right and OB on the left. As you approach the green there
is a ditch across the fairway and bunkers left and right.
You cross a most attractive bridge to reach the 6th tee, a really
good looking and challenging hole, illustrated above.
The seventh is a 343 yard par 4, from a well elevated tee you are
firing downhill to a narrow fairway protected on the left by large
trees and on the right by OB.
The 404 yard par 4 eighth has you teeing across a huge hedge and
a road about a hundred yards out. The fairway runs uphill, falling
slightly left to right and turning right to left back toward the
clubhouse. An unusual double green shared with the 18th with a bunker
front right.
Hole nine is a very short par 4 at 265 yards. The fairway is uphill
and falling right to left. The green is long and narrow sloping
back to front.
Twelve is the first par 5, 506 yards uphill over another large hedge,
then down hill again. The fairway is cut across by a massive bunker.
Ring the bell on the way down.
The fifteenth is an interesting par 3, only 147 yards but very steeply
uphill, so the tee shot is totally blind. Short leaves you in rough
grass on a steep slope or in a mean bunker. Anything long is also
in trouble as there is no room at all behind the green, just a bit
of rough then trees.
Seventeen is another quite short par 4 at 281 yards. The fairway
slopes left to right to a two-tier green with a bunker right.
Finishing with a long par 4, 447 yards slight dogleg left to right
back to the shared 8th green. OB all along the right and a green-side
bunker left.
A decent club house and a good halfway house, friendly staff and
a nice putting green. |
